Graduated from the Yaroslavl State Medical Institute in 1982. After training during a residency at the Department of Children's Infectious Diseases (1982–1984), he worked as chairman of the labor union committee of students at YMI (1984–1986). Since 1986 - Assistant Professor at the Department of Children's Infections of NMI, since 1999 - Associate Professor at the same department, since 2006 - Professor. In 2006, he was elected to the post of head of the department. Since 2014 – Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology and Childhood Infections.

Candidate of Medical Sciences (since 1993), Doctor of Medical Sciences (since 2006). The academic title of professor was approved in 2006. In 1997–1999 passed a scientific internship at the clinics of the University of Bonn (Germany). DAAD (2000) and North Rhine-Westphalia (2006) grants were received for the study of the pathogenetic mechanisms of chronicity and fibrosis of the liver tissue in hepatitis C. The author of more than 350 scientific papers on topical issues of infectious and liver diseases has a GCP certificate. The supervisor of 9 PhD theses.
